The charming, seaside community of Solana Beach is nestled along the northern coast of San Diego County, and is approximately a 30 minute drive from downtown San Diego. Local real estate data shows the median home value based on listings is $1,115,000 in 2017. The list price per square foot hovers around $670/square foot. In general, like most of the other coastal luxury areas of San Diego like La Jolla, Rancho Sante Fe, Del Mar, Pacific Beach and Cardiff, Solana Beach homes do not spend much time on the market. What Does Solana Beach Have to Offer?
Solana Beach’s main access routes include Interstate 5, Highway 101, Lomas Santa Fe Drive, and Via de la Valle. The city is home to a vibrant train station that serves both Amtrak and the Coaster, one of only three in San Diego County. The coaster stop is a key convenience for residents of Solana Beach as you can take the train to downtown, or up the coast into Orange County or beyond (and you can walk or bike to the station). Along the 101 and near the Coaster, residents and visitors alike have a gluttony of dining and shopping options including Claire’s on Cedros, Carruths Urban Winery and Tasting Room, Wild Note Café and Pizza Port.

Cedros Avenue is a pedestrian-friendly shopping district with designer clothing, antiques, custom furniture stores, pet shops, art galleries, a winery, a brewery, and other eclectic shops. Also on Cedros, you will find the Belly Up, a local institution that host live music performances from jazz icons to rock and pop acts of today.  

Of course, Solana Beach lives up to its name with temperatures that average 62 degrees in the wintertime and 77 degrees in the summertime. It offers 1.7 miles of coastline for swimming and surfing. Most days you will see locals drop by to watch the sunset at the award winning Fletcher Cove Park. It is a favorite destination for those looking to enjoy the beach, shops, great dining, golfing, nightlife, and nearby hiking. Just a few short miles south of Solana Beach proper is Torrey Pines State Park and Reserve, where you can hike cliffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean on a perfect sunny Southern California morning.

In spring, Solana Beach has historically hosted Fiesta del Sol, an outdoor event that features local shops, food artisans, music and a beer garden. In summer, the coaster station and Solana’s relative proximity to Del Mar welcome revelers as they head off to the world-famous Del Mar Race Track and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. Founded by the likes of Bing Crosby, the race season in Del Mar is a San Diego institution dating back to the 1930’s. Opening Day each July sees nearly 40,000 attendees dressed to the nines for a fun day at the races. In Solana Beach, the track is right in your backyard.
